Dr Melody Smith is a chartered Clinical Psychologist who specialises in supporting parents and families of children with a learning disability and/or a neurodevelopmental conditions such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Autism.

Dr Smith's pre- and post-doctoral training experience have led her to hone skills in functional analysis, behavioural intervention strategies and parenting interventions, enabling her to provide tailored support to parents of children with special educational needs.

Melody works from person-centred and recovery approach frameworks, meaning she focuses on the goals that will be most impactful for young people and their families. She is passionate about empowering parents of children with special educational needs with knowledge, enabling them to take charge of their child with special educational need’s care and education.

She is highly collaborative in her work and believes in co-producing behavioural interventions with parents. She does this by bringing her expertise in the management of behaviour and seeking parents' expertise in their child, family and home and incorporating both into a personalised intervention.

Dr Smith is guided by a gentle parenting framework and prioritises parent and children's attachment bond. Melody is passionate about celebrating the strengths personalities of children with special educational needs, supporting them to reach their maximum potential.
